Last week, we officially kicked off our summer internship program, and we couldn’t be more excited to have a fresh group of talented, curious, and driven interns joining the team. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing their experiences, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments as they dive into real projects, learn from mentors, and make their mark at Hype.

This week, I entered the doors of the Hype Agency for the first time. The emphatic exclamation point painted in orange on the glass door mirrored my excitement (and maybe some nerves), as the two other interns and I stepped inside. We were greeted by smiling faces, inspiring messages across the walls, and a simple message on my desk: “Make yourself at home here at the Hype Agency.” So I did.
This is my first time working a marketing job. Although I have been practicing and mastering my knowledge in marketing at Bucknell University for the past 3 years, I have the feeling that nothing can quite capture the learning that occurs in real-world experiences like this one. I have already learned so much in just a few short days, and I am so excited to keep learning more! Each day I got a little bit more comfortable. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming to us, which made the transition into a new environment a lot less scary. I can already tell that the culture here is great between everyone; I love seeing the camaraderie and people helping each other out. I’m hoping I can do the same for others once I get a bit more acquainted.
The days have flown by this week with all of the intern orientation (including all of the paperwork on Day 1 – admittedly not as glamorous), and it’s been really cool to see the programs explained in-depth that the team has helped to make happen. It is impressive how these events and activations are happening all over the country, yet their facilitation is right here in the charming Salem, New Hampshire office. You can only understand so much by stalking Hype’s website and LinkedIn in the months before you start…
This week has just been absorbing as much information as I can–about the company, the work, the clients and the people–as well as picking up helpful tips from the girls as I shadowed calls, meetings and interviews. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can start to get the hang of it while I go through my daily tasks. I’m looking forward to the progress I will continue to make!

And that’s a wrap on my first week at Hype! Starting with a new team as an intern can definitely be really nerve-wracking, but from the moment I walked through the Hype doors, I felt nothing but welcomed and valued. The team is filled with driven, hardworking, and passionate leaders, so being considered a part of that group already feels incredibly rewarding. I’m beyond excited to see what the summer holds.
This week, I’ve been assisting Raina with the interview process for the upcoming kickoff of the Mother’s Cookies sampling events for their brand new dinosaur cookie! It’s been fascinating to see all the behind the scenes steps that go into staffing an event. I’ve shadowed phone interviews with brand ambassadors, prepped staff decks for approval, and collaborated with my fellow interns. I’m genuinely grateful to be a part of a team that shares a collective mindset of working smarter, not harder. Even in just one week, I’ve seen firsthand how collaborative and communicative everyone is.
My highlight of the week would be getting to participate in the interview process and lead a handful of interviews myself. It’s really cool how quickly we’ve been trusted with meaningful responsibilities. Being an intern at Hype has already been really exciting so far, and I can’t wait to keep learning, growing, and diving deeper into the world of experiential marketing.
