Finding the right staffing partner in 2023

It’s February, and as the weather is getting colder, the events world is heating up.  The world’s biggest brands are coming out to create live experiences at some of the largest sporting events of the year and we couldn’t be more excited! As a staffing agency, we play an integral part in experiential marketing providing brand ambassadors and event staff to make the ideas come to life!

I was asked what makes us a good staffing partner and to me it’s simple. We love what we do and it shows.  We built Hype because of the possibilities we saw when things were run correctly and with passion. We believed the industry so desperately needed a staffing & execution agency that wasn’t just another vendor but was a true partner.

This led me to question why customers choose one company over its competitors. Why does any company choose one partner over another? Companies look for 4 important factors when choosing a vendor- cost, capability, communication, and reputation.

Cost: Costs a company considers when selecting a vendor include the cost of the service or product, cost savings to the bottom line, time savings, labor savings, the cost of not trusting the vendor and losing sleep over it, and the cost of partnering with a company with a bad reputation. Taking the lowest bid isn’t the most effective way to choose a vendor.  At Hype, we care about our client’s bottom line and we only bid what we are comfortable taking on to provide the level of service and quality we have become known for year after year.  We know we are not always the lowest bid because we provide our clients with top-notch service and high pay rates for our staff.

Capabilities:  In any industry, many companies can accomplish the same task. As a company selecting a staffing partner, do you have faith in the team to get the job done?  Capability is not the physical ability to do the job, but rather the track record of the people leading the effort. Some best practices to consider are to review the work they have done and are currently doing. How have they conducted themselves in today’s new environment and do they have the capabilities to execute your project today? Hype is more than just a staffing agency; we are a full-service execution partner and while many businesses are working with smaller teams, we can provide an array of services to our customers to get the job done.

Communication:  A good partner should be available for their clients when they need them and have an open and honest relationship with them to work through issues that arise. Clients want a partner they can rely on you to communicate what is going on — good, bad, or indifferent — on a consistent basis.  A good partner is willing to contact you right away when anything goes wrong and will give you frequent updates throughout the process. Be careful of vendors that tend to over-promise. You want someone who is completely honest about what they can and can’t do. Make sure you are communicating your needs clearly to them, as well.

Reputation: The fourth and potentially most important factor I believe companies consider when choosing a vendor is its reputation, not only of the company they are hiring but of its leaders. You must feel aligned with the principles of the team you are hiring. As a staffing and execution partner, Hype becomes an extension of your team. We look for our customers to share the same values as we do and in doing so, we can create a long-lasting partnership that wins!
