Teal is the New… Orange!

This Halloween, the FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) is working to lead a nationwide movement of teal painted pumpkins. The Teal Pumpkin Project was started by Tennessee mom- Becky Basalone. Becky had the idea of painting pumpkins teal and placing it on your porch to signify that your home has food-allergy-friendly treats for the neighborhood children. This little trick started two years ago and this year FARE has partnered to spread this campaign throughout the country.  With the increasing rate of food allergies, Basalone’s teal pumpkin idea is nearly genius! The Teal Pumpkin Project has already reached 5.5 million people on social media and has raised awareness about children with food allergies by providing non-food treats.

If you live in a home where trick-or-treaters can be treated with non-food treats FARE is encouraging Basalone’s idea of the teal pumpkin; teal is the color of food allergy awareness. As always, don’t forget to share on social media with the hashtag #TealPumpkinProject.
