Dos & Don’ts – Managing Your Online Presence

In the promotional industry, whether you’re a team manager or a brand ambassador, you are your own brand. If you want to be successful in this industry, you’re goal should be to conduct yourself as a business.

Here some of Hype’s DOs & DON’Ts of personal branding in the promotional industry:

DO HAVE AN ONLINE PRESENCE

If you want to attract new opportunities and make yourself available on various outlets creating a positive online presence is a necessity. Using tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. to show off your work and what you’re passionate about can be great add-ons to help showcase yourself and get you booked.

DO POST OFTEN AND MANAGE YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

It’s simply not enough to just have these social accounts and not keep them updated. Post new pictures of yourself and your promos, share articles that you find interesting or even events that you’d love to work. Keep your pages relevant and up to date.

DO NOT OVER SHARE ONLINE

When you do decide to open your accounts up for everyone to see (including hiring agents) it is important to think before you post or share. Inappropriate comments and vulgar posts most likely will NOT get you booked for future events. Keep it classy people! Do whatever you please in your off time, but if your postings are public to potential employers you may want to think twice before posting.

DO POST ABOUT PAST EVENTS

Showcase your experience and skills by sharing photos from past events. We love seeing what our staff has been up to!

DO NOT THINK WE CAN’T/WON’T FIND YOU

I remember when I thought just making my profile “private” would ensure that only my friends could see my things was the truth. The truth is, once you post something, even if you’re private or delete it, it is on the Internet forever. Take it from us, we are pros at finding missing information!
