PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
United Airlines launched a new uniform program for its pilots and flight attendants. To support this initiative, fitting events were held at various airport locations, allowing employees to try on the new uniform pieces and ensure they ordered the correct size. The goal was to help staff accurately select their uniforms, ensuring comfort and proper fit.
STAFFING OVERIVEW:
The United Airlines uniform fitting events were held across 13 markets, including Newark, NJ; Tampa, FL; Orlando, FL; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Dulles, WA DC; San Francisco, CA; Boston, MA; Las Vegas, NV; Cleveland, OH; Los Angeles, CA; and Denver FTC, CO. Each market was staffed with 7 to 13 Brand Ambassadors, including lead BAs, who were responsible for a range of tasks. Roles included Garment Attendants, providing white-glove service in the fitting rooms by managing appointments, pre-selecting sizes, and cleaning/resetting rooms, and Registration Staff, handling check-ins and check-outs using the BWT registration tool. Staff rotated through duties, ensuring smooth operations, with additional responsibilities for light setup, breakdown, and cleanup. Training focused on customer service and the specific processes of the fitting events. No staff were required to lift over 50 lbs or perform labor-intensive tasks.
RESULTS/CONCLUSION:
The United Airlines uniform fitting program successfully ran from August 12 to October 31, with varying start and end dates across 13 markets to accommodate local needs. The program operated for 43 days in Newark, 40 days in San Francisco, 37 days in Houston, and 34 days in Chicago. Other markets included Las Vegas (6 days), Dulles/Washington DC (32 days), Boston (5 days), Los Angeles (15 days), Denver (30 days), Tampa (7 days), Orlando (10 days), Cleveland (7 days), and Denver FTC (29 days). The dedicated team of Brand Ambassadors in each location ensured smooth operations by assisting with garment fittings, registration, and logistical support. As a result, the program successfully streamlined the uniform ordering process, ensuring pilots and flight attendants received their correct sizes for a seamless transition to the new uniforms.
