The results are in! We have raised $1,665 to benefit Breast Cancer during the month of October.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, The Hype Agency partnered with Walk With Sally and Skechers Performance Division for the Breast Friend Campaign! During the month of October, we donated $5 for each of the 333 new Facebook “likes” we received on Facebook!
Walk With Sally, in collaboration with Skechers Performance Division, launched the “Breast Friend” campaign to not only promote breast cancer awareness, but to help fight the “aftermath” breast cancer leaves behind for our mothers and children by providing them with mentoring services and support!
Walk With Sally is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mentoring & other support programs to children of parents or siblings with cancer – one child at a time, one heart at a time.

The Hype Agency is happy to welcome Catherine Medeiros as an Account Coordinator in our east coast office!
Catie graduated from Stonehill College with a degree in business and marketing in the spring of 2013. She started with The Hype Agency early this summer as an intern, and we are thrilled to have her on our team full time!

Catie is very passionate, and thoroughly enjoys working in the fast paced experiential marketing world. She will be working closely with her Account Manager, Ryane Murray, while learning the ins and outs of her new role.

It’s about that time; summer is coming to a close, while the back to school season comes into full swing. The Hype Agency is currently partnering with one of the leading nationwide financial institutions again this year to bring students free money.
From August through September, there are teams of four brand ambassadors at fifteen different college campuses across the county for a total of three days at each campus.
While out at their favorite restaurants, coffee shops, and various other hotspots, students are delighted to hear that “we’re picking up the tab!” Which is exactly what the brand ambassadors do, by generating excitement and surprising current customers and those interested in opening a checking account with $5!
We did this program last year and it was incredibly successful. By giving students an incentive to open a free checking account, sign ups went through the roof. Best of all is that both the students and the financial institution benefit from this promotion.
So, if you’re at a college campus from New York to California this back to school season, be on the look out for our teams and you might just have your tab picked up by us!
The Hype Agency will be in Newport, Rhode Island August 3-4 for our final America Loves Jadot Event Sampling Tour that we started in May. Jadot is America’s number one selling French wine from the Louis Jadot vineyards in Burgundy, France. We have been traveling all summer to various event markets across the country, in places like Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida and San Francisco, to engage Jadot’s target demographics with our brand ambassadors. In doing so, we have increased on-site awareness at different arts and music festivals, like the Wells Street Arts Festival in Chicago, which brought in almost 300,000 attendees this year, and the DelRay Beach affair in Palm Beach.
This weekend, our mature, outgoing and wine-knowledgeable male and female brand ambassadors will be at The Newport Jazz Festival, educating and engaging consumers about the Jadot wine tasting experience with the following wines: Macon-Villages Chardonnay, which has been aged in stainless steel casks rather than oak, and a chilled red Beaujolais-Villages, similar to a pinot noir and aged in oak casks; brand ambassadors for this event will be wearing black bottoms and Jadot scoop neck t-shirts. Since Jadot will be the featured wine of the event, this will be a great opportunity to drive consumer purchases by encouraging people to purchase Jadot by the glass (not by the bottle). There will also be coupons given away in the form of fans, which will be perfect for the hot summer weather (coupons vary according to each state’s alcohol ordinances).
Our team has handled all of the logistics of the America Loves Jadot Sampling Tour this summer, from coordinating shipping, staffing the event and building the concept to negotiating sponsorships and coordinating the venues all while staying within the client’s budget. We’re extremely excited for the weekend, and we feel it’ll be a great event to end this promotion in a fantastic city at a fantastic festival!
The Hype Agency has recently taken on three hardworking and talented interns to assist us with coordinating our event marketing projects: Tanner, Catherine and Darby. Their creative, inspiring, optimistic and motivated personalities make them the perfect assets to our company and we’re very excited to have them aboard! Tanner likes working at The Hype Agency because he likes the independent and team player aspects of the business; in his spare time, Tanner enjoys music and photography. Catherine, also known as Catie, loves the culture at Hype and feels a great sense of community and friendliness among everyone; one of Catherine’s hobbies during her free time is surfing. Darby loves learning all about event and guerilla marketing from those working at The Hype Agency and believes in pursuing opportunities as they present themselves; when Darby isn’t working, she loves riding horses. We’re very excited to work with this eclectic and intelligent bunch!
Dayna Gilchrist, co-founder of The Hype Agency and manager of the east coast office, comes from a background of guerilla marketing, where she had her feet on the street and saw a huge disconnect between the programs that marketing agencies invest in and the brand ambassadors that would spread the messages in the fields. Gilchrist realized that the wrong types of people were being selected to embody the brand ambassador roles, which resulted in diluted and inaccurate brand messaging to the target demographics. She and Kate Bright, co-founder of The Hype Agency and manager of the west coast office, realized they should take control of this matter by being proactive about hand-selecting the best brand ambassadors for their clients’ projects at The Hype Agency.

We are gearing up for a fun weekend in San Diego! We are so excited to be attending Comic-Con this weekend, where we will be on-site at the convention with our team of talented brand ambassadors representing several of our clients! Getting to go to events like this one is part of what makes our jobs so incredibly fun, so we are really excited about this weekend!
Comic-Con is the go to gathering for comics, movies, and science fiction enthusiasts, and in recent years it has attracted an impressive attendance of over 130,000. According to Forbes, Comic-Con is the largest comic and science fiction convention in the world, making it a one-of-a-kind opportunity for brands looking to connect with a large, targeted audience.
Comic-Con first started in 1970 as a single-day event with an attendance of about 100, growing over the years to become the renowned event that it is today. During the convention’s history, it has attracted special guests like comic book artists, fantasy authors, science fiction writers, actors, and more. The convention’s expansion to include more activities and themes has captured the attention of the more general public, leading to a wider audience and creating even more branding opportunities for companies like our clients’.
This event has grown over its forty-plus years to be more than just a comic book convention. Comic-Con now includes programming events, anime themes, film screening, a separate film festival, games, a masquerade costume competition, and an award ceremony. Our first new team member is Angela. Angela is a happy, bold, and optimistic young lady. Her favorite part about HYPE thus far is that there is always something new going on in her day and she is always meeting new and interesting people on the phone. Her favorite quote is by Coco Chanel, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
The second new team member is Lee. Lee is honest, driven, and genuine. His favorite part of HYPE so far is the ability to work independently while on a team, and since it is such a fun atmosphere the weeks seem to FLY by! Lee’s favorite quote is by Steve Prefontaine, “To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift.”
The third new team member is Michelle. Michelle is vibrant, enthusiastic, and driven. Her favorite part of HYPE is the variety of work and the staff! Michelle’s favorite quote is by Twyla Tharp, “Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.”

Employee Spotlight: ATARA OVEN
In 2013, we are highlighting our all-star employees so when you call us you can get a better idea of who’s who at Hype! This month we want to introduce, Atara Oven. She has been with us for about 3 years now and has quickly moved up in the “ranks” here at Hype. The founders of the company knew there was something special in her when she delivered her resume printed on a CAKE!! That’s right, a delicious frosted cake- that out of the box thinking is what we love about her! Ask her about it next time you talk to her.
In June of 2012, Atara was promoted to Account Supervisor. She was the first ever person in this role and we were so excited to create this position for her. Her primary role is to oversee the Account Managers and Account Coordinators in both our East Coast and West Coast office by managing their work loads, working with them to trouble shoot problems, and train new staff on new procedures. She reports direct to the founders of the company and is always there to lend a helping hand or new idea/way of doing things!

What is the greatest thing about Hype culture?

What drives you? What are you inspired by?
Problem solving. Puzzles and challenges; I love figuring out how to make the impossible possible.
I am inspired by strong women in the workforce. They are proof that you are able to have a full-time career and a family without either being compromised.
What was your greatest accomplishment of the past year?
Becoming an Account Supervisor at my age. Proving to myself and others that age is just a number.
What are your passions/interests outside of the workplace?

It is with great pleasure that we get to announce our very own Katie Bisson’s recent promotion to Assistant Account Manager.
Katie started with us as an intern last summer and we knew then that we wanted to add her “permanently” to the Hype Family. Thankfully she felt the same and she came back to us after graduation as an Account Coordinator. She was hired in January of 2011. She has been moving fast since she started with us full time and we are so excited to see her take on even more responsibility as an Assistant Account Manager. She will have the primary responsibility of managing and overseeing her assigned programs while still learning from and assisting her Account Manager and Supervisor. Katie has always been able to take on multiple “hats” and adapts well to the ever-changing world of events and promotions. We look forward to seeing her excel in this new role!
